Haymond earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in economics in 1970. He earned both a Master of Arts and Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1974. He is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and Pennsylvania and appear before the Federal bench.

Career

Haymond began his career practicing law with his father David Haymond. John Haymond continued to work with his father for 15 years. He has been a practicing attorney for over 35 years.

In 2014 Haymond was involved in a lawsuit with Judge Judy Sheindlin after use of advertisements related to her popular television show. Haymond counter-sued and eventually the cases were settled out of court.

Haymond is an active advocate for motorcyclists. He is currently a member of several motorcycle associations in different states, and has sponsored many charitable events in which motorcycle riders raised money to fight illnesses and for other causes. Haymond's firm also sponsors several motorcycle shows including the Springfield Motorcycle Show. and other group riding events. Haymond provides an event guide of motorcycle events throughout the Northeast called the Haymond Law Motorcycle Events Guide. Thousands of riders register for the free guide each year. Haymond attempted to stop the city of Springfield, Massachusetts, from keeping bikers from attending a community event in 2015.

Haymond is well known for his innovations in legal marketing. The New York Times featured Haymond in an article on the subject in 1995.

Haymond Law represents clients in personal injury cases, wrongful death cases, medical malpractice, motor vehicle and motorcycle accident cases. The Haymond Law Firm has offices throughout the Northeast and New England. He recovered over $1.4 million in compensation in a 2015 trial as his client was willing to accept $75,000 which was rejected by the defendant's insurance company. In 2017 a jury awarded $3.2 million in compensation to his client in a unique case related to scaffolding.

Haymond is a member of several professional groups including the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations. He is a member of the American and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. Haymond appears on the news segment "Ask the Attorney" weekly on Fox61 in Hartford.
